Garden Fireworks

Does someone in the family have a birthday coming up? How about an anniversary? While firework displays are normally restricted to holidays such as Diwali, Bonfire Night and New Year’s eve, celebrations happen all year round. From weddings to gender reveals, birthdays to Valentine’s Day, we love fireworks all year round. And that’s where garden fireworks can light up your evening in January or June, April or August.

What are garden fireworks?

Garden fireworks are designed to be used in the average family garden. With all of these, you’ll need an 8m safety buffer zone, which is about the length of a standard family garden from the house to the end of the plot. So you can set off your garden fireworks at the end of the garden while keeping everyone safe.

They may be small, but they pack plenty of wow-factor into every box, every tube and every fountain. From small rockets to that true family favourite, the Catherine Wheel, garden fireworks can make any event extra special.

The best way to buy garden fireworks is to grab a few multi-shot, single-ignition fireworks and team them up with a few well-chosen, medium-size rockets. Add in some fountains and a couple of Catherine Wheels (and of course, some of our giant golden sparklers) and you have a garden firework show fit for the whole family.

If you want to go all-out, a Saturn 2 or Uranus 2 collection gives you an entire display that’ll get the neighbours twitching their curtains to watch. And all of this in the safety and comfort of your own back garden – what could be better?

Safety first – keeping everyone happy and safe

Even the smallest fireworks are potentially dangerous if mishandled. So with all of our garden fireworks, you’ll get all the instructions you need to let them off safely. Garden fireworks are designed specifically for use in the average size garden, but you’ll still need that safety zone between your spectators and the fireworks. Make sure there’s at least an 8m distance between you and the fireworks.

Lighting should be done by one person only (and never allow children to light fireworks). Use our Portfires firework lighters, not a match or lighter. These slow-burn tapers give you plenty of time to light your fireworks and get well away from them before they go up.

Always have a bucket of water handy to put out used sparklers – even after they’ve finished sparkling the metal will still be very hot and can easily burn a hand. As soon as they’ve finished, simply pop the metal core into the bucket and leave it there.

And of course, it’s common sense to never EVER return to a lit firework. So make sure if you do have a dud (and that’s a genuine rarity with a Ghengis Firework!) that you simply leave it alone and don’t try to relight it. If the fuse has already burnt down and you relight it the firework could explode while you’re still next to it. Keep your distance, and keep having fun.
